Carmen Kattan

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the courage it took to seek out therapy. It is especially important for me to validate you, in the here and now, for taking this step. I am here to work with you to identify your current needs, while also helping you develop and foster the appropriate skills for you to meet those needs. Over time, practicing these skills will lead you towards living a more satisfactory life that is in alignment with your true values and purpose. I also can provide you with the proper tools to cultivate and maintain healthy relationships with your loved ones, community, and most importantly self.

I understand mental and physical struggles from a whole person perspective and work with you to identify the underlying physical and emotional causes. In essence, I focus on the whole of your being. In my approach, I draw upon contextual evidence-based practice skills and treatment methods, while also being guided by evidence-based research. My intention is to nurture coherence between therapeutic factors and your exact needs. All the while, creating a
strong therapeutic alliance where you and I are invested in the set goals and the course of care. I am passionate about adapting treatment models to fit each client’s specific need, and focusing on the synthesis of mind, body, emotion, and energy. Frequently Asked Questions

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a therapeutic intervention where talk and experiential techniques are used to aid individuals in understanding themselves more deeply while working through any number of specific challenges.

Is Psychotherapy covered by insurance?

Some insurance companies are beginning to include Psychotherapy under extended benefit plans.

If your insurance company does not currently cover psychotherapy, please visit the Registered Psychotherapists Insurance Committee (RPIC) for more information.

Who is a candidate for therapy?

Any person who feels as though they would benefit from speaking with a professional is a candidate for therapy.  If you are experiencing difficulties dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, or any number of challenges, finding a professional to work with might be the right choice for you.

How do you choose a therapist?

There are a number of ways an individual might find a therapist.  Searching online will undoubtedly present a number of viable options. Referrals from medical professionals or friends are often useful when beginning a search for the right therapist.

While there are many factors you may want to consider, such as convenience, education, approach, etc., the most important consideration is how comfortable you feel with your therapist.  Following your instincts might be the most helpful tool in finding the right fit for you.
