Amanda Stokes

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Are you in a crisis, struggling with an on-going issue or stuck in restrictive emotional patterns and behaviors? If so, I can help you to move from a place of limitation, to one of possibility and choice.

I believe everyone can benefit from working with a therapist; a chance to talk openly and confidentially with someone who’s sole intent is to form a therapeutic alliance with you, about you and for your wellbeing. I am there to guide you through any personal pain or suffering you may be experiencing and to help you gain clarity around your thoughts and emotions.

With a background in Trauma-Informed Yoga and Spiritual Psychotherapy, I offer:
  • a client-centered, holistic approach
  • body-oriented psychotherapy, Focusing & somatic processing
  • guided imagery, mindfulness, and Inner Child Work

In our partnership, I begin by learning about you and gaining an empathic understanding of  what factors have contributed to both your current mental/emotional state and the deeper patterns at play. I am committed to supporting you as you explore and dissect these patterns and create a personal action plan towards positive and sustainable choices. My goal is to lead you to greater self-understanding and self-compassion while empowering you to create your own strategies and solutions towards making positive change.

I encourage a collaborative and creative process between client and therapist; one that engages all aspects of the Self so that relief will be experienced on emotional, physical, and spiritual planes.

“Not all addictions are rooted in abuse or trauma, but I do believe they can all be traced to painful experience. A hurt is at the centre of all addictive behaviours.

Who is a candidate for therapy?

Any person who feels as though they would benefit from speaking with a professional is a candidate for therapy.  If you are experiencing difficulties dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, or any number of challenges, finding a professional to work with might be the right choice for you.

How do you choose a therapist?

There are a number of ways an individual might find a therapist.  Searching online will undoubtedly present a number of viable options. Referrals from medical professionals or friends are often useful when beginning a search for the right therapist.

While there are many factors you may want to consider, such as convenience, education, approach, etc., the most important consideration is how comfortable you feel with your therapist.  Following your instincts might be the most helpful tool in finding the right fit for you.
